BuddyWatch, Inc was established out of frustration in 2017, when the reports indicated that the number of homeless Veterans was increasing. Homeless Veterans still sleep in the woods, basements, under bridges, on a friend’s sofa and in shelters. They deserve better and it is up to us to see that they get better.
BuddyWatch, Inc. has a mission:
- Raise awareness of the need to shelter our Veterans.
- Identify our local homeless Veterans.
- Raise funding to purchase land.
- Build 800 sq. foot cottages along with activity buildings!
- Welcome them home Veterans who choose to live there will be given assistance in applying for their benefits.
Their monthly rent will depend on their income. They will be expected to put in “sweat equity” to help maintain the compound. More importantly, to take care of their buddy to their left and to their right.
Homelessness is one aspect of the problem but these individuals also experience other issues such as loneliness; a loss of purpose; a life direction; and comradery. NO ONE can understand this void except another Veteran. Being welcomed and included in BuddyWatch, Inc will create a sense of belonging and purpose.
BuddyWatch, Inc also welcomes sponsors who are interested in contributing exclusively to building activity out buildings like for car maintenance, music, carpentry, physical therapy, a gazebo, a cookout area. We invite you to be a part of this mission any way that you have.
We are seeking individuals, and/or business owners who feel as strongly about homeless veterans as we do. Together through fund raisers and private donations, we can make this happen. We brought them home, now let’s build them one!
